Day 31: The Dragon: Reflections on being seen
Over time, my mishaps have been chronicled in human folklore and literature. Much of the art – particularly European and near eastern art – that resembles dragons is probably based on people's memories when they had just a little too good of a look at me, at least this is true of the dragon pictures where the dragon was rearing up. The flatter dragons may have been sitings of crocodiles, monitor lizards, or large snakes. Humans have such vivid imaginations. I regret that I've caused so much terror in people's hearts, but then again, it seems to be the nature of human beings to create monsters and heroes in their minds, particularly as models for good and evil.
