Regal Relic

Ornate and beautiful I stood above the rest,
the King my constant companion.
I ruled them in my youth
and held power in my being.

The lock, my lover,
the only entrance
to the glory of the kingdom.
Together, we gave birth
to the golden treasure
of a nation

But that was long ago.
I am a regal relic of the past,
my influence lost to time.

My lover, the lock and
my child, the chest,
now historic memories
now gone and destroyed.

I am all that is left of
a gilded age on display.
Reminding them
of a dead leader
and his place
in history.
