Pain, Anne Rice
Prompt: Writers write about what obsesses them. "I lost my mother when I was 14. My daughter died at the age of 6. I lost my faith as a Catholic. When I 'm writing, the darkness is always there. I go where the pain is." Anne Rice
What do you think of Anne Rice's approach? Do you also go in writing where the pain is?
No. I never let pain dictate or influence my writing. I love Medieval times, Jane Austen, Teddy Bears, Christmas, fairy tales and I write from things that make me happy. When I write, I want to forgot about things that make me sad or angry. I write to escape. I see enough darkness, pain and negative, incoherent thinking at my mental health job. Writing is my happy place and safe zone. I hope I never get trapped on the dark side. I like vampires and werewolves but this is for fun. I want vampires to be happy. I live in LaLa Land or fantasy but like I said, I see enough dark things at my job. I write where happiness resides.
