I have posted my response to MHWA Mental Health Challenge and other items to this journal. |
Monday, February 2, 2015 Day 2 of the Musical History of Snow "The Soundtrack of Your Life" I was raised on country music, southern fried chicken, homemade biscuits, sausage gravy and beans. I remember sitting on Grandpa Frank's lap listening to Hank Williams, Sr. sing Jambalaya on the Bayou, Your Cheatin' Heart, and Cold Cold Heart. I had difficulty choosing which one of these songs to post today. After listening to all three of them, I decided on the rare video made of Hank Williams Sr singing Cold Cold Heart. My grandfather played records instead of playing a CD or listening to an i-pad. As Barbara Mandrell sang "I was country when country wasn't cool". I feel sorry for kids today because they do not have the pleasure of listening to a vinyl record and lifting the needle over the scratch so that the rest of the record could play. I miss the vinyl records. I miss Grandpa Frank and Grandma Mary. I am glad that I have access to YouTube so that I can find some of the old songs and artist that I remember listening to when I play vinyl records. |
