Blog City – Day 253

Prompt: Do you use flashbacks or flash-forwards in your fictional and true stories? How or why, do you think, they are important, if at all?

I tend not to use flashbacks. I have heard they are not as vital or as strong because they don't allow your character to be immediately there - it is more exposition. Showing and immediacy are diminished. I tend to prefer to work in background in little moments - often in dialogue or a character's thoughts as they are doing something that is relevant to those thoughts - making connections all the way around.

Not sure what a flash forward is....
