Family Outings

Prompt: What was your favorite family outing? Did you go somewhere? What made it special to you?

I can never pick just one. My mother and I go to Lake Michigan and have a picnic every year. My son and his wife used to go with us but their jobs don't allow it anymore. Mom and I go shopping at an outside Mall after our picnic.

My son always has great cook outs. At night, he lights a camp fire ands we sit by his woods and tell spooky ghost stories or just funny stories. We play 60's and 70's Rock music. My Dad doesn't like the music. He calls it hippie music. The food is good. Hot Dogs, Cheeseburgers, chips and desserts.

When I was a kid, my grandparents would take my cousin, me, my mother, a couple of friends and we would go to the carnival and see Fireworks on the 4th of July.

I guess what makes these events special is just being with family and as you get older, you realize things change as you get married and we won't be here forever. This applies to Christmas and New Years as well. With my son getting his PHD officially, he is giving a Cook Out and I can hardly wait. I am not sure where he will be working or moving to but I will cherish our time together.
