Gamble of the Gods

The God's are gamblers,
and toy with our lives
to distract them
from their growing boredom.

Through a sheen of dark clouds
they torment us with floods
and watch us sink or swim.

The earth and sky rumble
when we do not obey
and do not fall to our knees in submission.

With a roll of the dice,
they send famine and disease
and hope we will starve
for their favor.

But we will not break
We will endure.
We see through their mirage

We refuse to be their playthings
We will not be a diversion
We will endure

It is they who will pay the price
as they become destitute,
and forgotten
in the march of time.
