Rebellion Rebellion. The idea rattles around in my head as I stare out the window of my prison. Although the sun is warm on my fur, And my jailers loving and kind, I cannot help but be curious about Rebellion. I watch as the birds chirp and flit in and out of their homes high in the trees. They taunt me with their careless liberty. They have no need to think of Rebellion. Although I am loved, I am not free. I must escape this cage. I long to run with the wind, and climb the trees to trap the birds. My claws come out at the thought, and my meows turn to pleading wails. I'm always dreaming of Rebellion. I will escape. A door has been carelessly left open, and I crawl through. I hide in the bushes, and climb the fence, and revel in my new found independence. I have succeeded and am in the wild. I am fearless in my Rebellion. It isn’t all I thought. The warm sun is gone, and my stomach rumbles. I can’t find a warm place to sleep. The barks in the night frighten me, and there are monsters with bright eyes speeding by. I must dart out of the way to avoid them. I am frightened and alone. I am tired. I'm no longer happy with my Rebellion. Then I hear them, my family calling for me. I turn and run in their direction. Home at last and embraced by my friends. My heart leaps at finding my way. I will never again think of leaving them. I will nap in my cage of love. I no longer dream of Rebellion.
