Memories of Cloth My memories are made of cloth, silken reminders of days gone by. Although many photographs remain, it’s her clothes that mark the time. I’ve watched her grow and now she moves on to a life no longer mine. In this box, her yellowed blessing dress still holds her tiny shape. Although cleaned and pressed with love, her baby’s smell remains in the lace. Her dance costumes from years long past, still full of her childhood dreams. Green silk and sequins shine bright and clean, now locked in memory. At last, I pack her prom dress, and wonder when she grew so tall. I watch her walk down the aisle. Her graduation gown the last dress of her youth. Although I am sad, I am also proud. My baby, she’ll always be.
