Ordinary Woman by Ashley Faith

Chic women wonder why I don't wear make-up.
I'm not gorgeous or built for Crossfit,
But when I try to explain why I'm still happy,
They think I'm kidding myself.
I declare,
It's in the strength of my arms
The swirl of my hips,
The confidence of my walk,
The arch of my eyes.

I'm a woman
Commonly.
Common woman,
That's me.

I enter a room
chill as can be,
And to a man,
The fellas stand or
Fall to their knees.

They swarm around me,
A hive of bees.

The pretty girls are perplexed,
They say 'How can this be?!'

I convey,
It's the fire in my spirit,
And the coy of my wit,
The width of my waist,
And the joy in my smile.

I'm a woman
Commonly.
Common woman,
That's me.

Men themselves are perplexed
How am I such a good friend?
They think too much
and still can't touch
My inner workings remain a mystery.

I try to show them,
work to mold them,
but their maturity is less than me.

I testify,
It's in the straightness of my back,
The warmth of my smile,
The swell of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Not so commonly.
Non-common woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I may shout or jump about
Or like to talk real loud,
But when you see me coming
It ought to make you proud.

I certify,
It's in the slap of my flats,
The kink of my hair,
the soft in my touch,
The deep of my care,

'Cuz I'm a common woman
Non-commonly,
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
