Daddy's Dog
I think those words have an ominous feel to them. In this world of lost little dogs, I have become the adopted dad to a dog that seems to plot and scheme more ways to get me in trouble or at least lead me on a merry little chase.

I am sure that I am part of the problem. I never was very good at disciplining my own kids. Once Buddy found this out he has taken full advantage of it. Much of the time, it seems like we have an idealistic relationship. He will get up in bed with me whenever I lay down for a nap. But as soon as I get up the fun begins. Buddy gets all excited.
"Oh boy daddy are you going to take me for a walk".

Often enough I give in. I have just gotten over a overnight shift and yet nature calls. Buddy needs is walk. But I am starting to get suspicious. Everytime I get up he wants to walk! Often enough I will let him loose. I am sure he appreciates his freedom and he will forever be thankful. He races in joy and soon he is off and I am hard pressed to find him. Everyone in the neighborhood must hear me call. I am not sure if they think I am nuts or looking for a buddy. Finally Buddy comes with a big grin on his face.
"Here I am"
We climb up a high hill to get home. I let him loose only because I need to huff and puff my way up. Buddy disappears into the woods. Again I call out and more neighbors know I need a buddy to talk to. We do finally get home and sure enought he wants his snack. I don't think so! So he goes upstairs and eat cat candy instead.

When Sharon comes home it is more of his unruliness. The dog licks me (he is not supposed to) and finds other ways to get me chewed out because I can not discipline the dog like she can. Maybe Buddy need to find a new daddy or maybe I just need to love him for who he is. God give me strength.
