I have posted my response to MHWA Mental Health Challenge and other items to this journal. |
I'm feeling more optimistic about moving to Searchlight, Nevada. I know there are disadvantages, but today I'm focusing on the advantages, some of the pros instead of the cons. One problem I have, which always makes me more depressed, is to look only at the cons rather then the pros of a situation. I may list the cons in a later entry; however, today I'm going to attempt to list all the advantages that come to mind. I don't think there are any Baha'is in Searchlight, which, at first, I considered a disadvantage. After think about the situation, I've come to realize it is just the opposite. It's an advantage because it is a chance for me to teach the faith and perhaps start a weekly or a monthly fireside. Searchlight is only 60 miles or 96 km from Las Vegas. According to the website http://www.distancebetweencities.net/ this is only about a 56 minute drive. This prevents coming into Las Vegas on a daily basis (unless one is working in Las Vegas), but a couple of times a week is feasible. My sister lives in Searchlight and this could be a chance for us to become closer. Searchlight is only 39 miles or 64 km from Boulder City, Nevada. I know there are Baha'is in Boulder City, so I will be able to attend the nineteen-day feast, as well as Holy Days, on a regular basis. Searchlight has its own song called the Searchlight Rag by Scot Joplin. Searchlight is an interesting town1 with a long history2 where I can find numerous ideas for writing. I'm almost looking forward to moving to Searchlight. Footnotes |
