Thanksgiving
No Prompt.

I am writing about Thanksgiving. My husband Ray and I had turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and creamed corn. I made an orange cake for dessert. We waited for my son Jason and his wife Erin and Erin's mother to come over. We always have dessert together. Erin bought over a pumpkin pie and I baked an orange cake. It was nice to be together.

Erin's mother Sandy is going through Chemo and she has uterine cancer. I am so glad she was able to come over. Her husband died back in May. I hope Erin's mother will beat this cancer. She has a positive attitude and Chemo is going well.

My son lives in Illinois and he is doing internship for his job in mental health and getting his PHD. His wife lives in Indiana as we do as well. Jason only comes home every other weekend.

I had bowel obstruction surgery and hernia surgery and was on a breathing tube and heavily sedated for a week back in July. I went through rehab and am lucky to be alive. I was in the hospital for a month. While I was there. I kept thinking of Carrie Underwood's song: This is My Temporary Home". This helped me get through this along with my family and friends. I am walking now and doing alright.

I am so thankful that I am alive and doing well. I am glad Sandy is doing alright. It was great to have my son, his wife and his mother-in-law here. That's what Thanksgiving is all about. Being thankful and being with family. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
