It's Creation Saturday! The November 23, 2013 prompt for for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" is Write about your greatest fear from the point of view of your fear. 1 On Creation Saturday, what fears may come rising out of the depths of memory, of imagination, of fantasy to curtail story, stop a poem, or cut short a blog entry? Is writer's block a fear slipping into an author's mind, as a result of too much sleep, lack of sleep, a drunken binge, an orgy of eating, or a period starvation and thirst. 2 Writer's Block: I am your worst fear, rising out of the ocean of your negative self-talk. I am the blank page terror whispering... "I can't write!" "I don't know what to say!" "I don't have any new ideas!" ...to your worried mind. I am the ego's fear of failure, I am the terror of success, repeating clichés, rewriting in mid-sentence your literary classic, misspelling simple words, and casting doubt across the pages of your talent. I am writer's block I cannot be overcome by inaction, my nemesis is the written word. the completed poem, the edited novel, or the posted blog entry. Thought of the Day: “The amateur believes he must first overcome his fear; then he can do his work. The professional knows that fear can never be overcome. He knows there is no such thing as a fearless warrior or a dread-free artist.” - Steven Pressfield |
