Some of the strangest things forgotten by that Australian Blog Bloke. 2014 |
This is a little story in a comment I copied from a YouTube Video about BASE Jumping. (Ok, this is the link if you really must watch the video itself http://youtu.be/-G-hulD_2TM) winghun10 months ago in reply to EATGRIZZLE I'm a skydiver, and before I commenced my first jump, my instructor told me a story. So there was this guy, an instructor himself, and his students were about the perform their first jump. He decided not to bring his own parachute, just staying on the plane for some reason (probably he hated packin chutes...). So after all his student had left the plane, he completely forgot that he had no chute on his back, so he jumped out of the plane as he always did. Not much remained of the guy Well, as sad as that story is, I have to say that the narrator was wrong. There is a lot that remains of that guy, (that forgot he didn't have a chute on)and what it is, is his story. It lives on. His story lives on. It was told to the guy who told it to his student who then related it to the person who commented on that video on YouTube, and I saw that story, and I'm telling you that story here in this Blog, and you'll most likely tell that story while eating dinner with your family tonight, or tell it to your dog or cat, and then they'll, (the family members, not the dog or cat) will continue to tell this story of the man who forgot that he didn't have his chute on and jumped out of the plane. And so it goes on. So what if the story isn't true hey? Because that, dear friends, is where the entertainment of fiction comes into its own. If you can manipulate words the right way, the your story is read as if the reader is watching through the lense of a GoPro camera. Imagine that. And then tell people in full colour, taking advantage of words that can convey all the other sensory input. Cameras try, but struggle to do that at which written stories excel. The writers' GoPro of words. That's what I'm talkin' about! Sparky. |
