Midweek reflections on my Facebook status updates
I came to the conclusion that I update my Facebook status too much. Today I only updated my status once (so far), but I will probably check book a couple of more times and update it at least once more. This is the update I posted five or six minutes ago "Officially or unofficially October 30 is Mischief Night AKA Devil's Night, but I suggest renaming it to Aggravation Day or Aggravation Night because too much mischief causes aggravation." I realize I cannot update my status that much during November because it will interfere with my NaNo schedule.

I'm beginning to think that I might be addicted to updating my Facebook statue (I don't want to admit this just yet); therefore, during NaNoWriMo, I will limit my updates to once a day or once a week (this depends on my progress in meeting my daily word count). I will log onto writing.com more then once a day because I have goals to meet that require me to review and submit to contests. In addition, I am using "Writing in SnowOpen in new Window. to keep track of my writing goal achievements. The entry for October 28 to November 1, is in "Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. and on November 3, I will state a November Accounting entry. I have decided the best way to keep track of my achievements is to write them down in a place that I won't lose them.

Now that I've written that, I wonder if it is a sign of obsessive-compulsive behavior. Perhaps, I am replacing one addiction with another because the more I update my status on Facebook and the more I log into writing.com the less I play solitary online or on the computer. I used to enjoy playing solitary, but it's become a hassle, which is slowly turning into an aggravation. I used to be able to play solitary without feeling guilty, but not any more. Updating my Facebook status gives me a chance to write and to learn something; for instance, this morning I learned that the name for leftover coffee is déjà vu coffee. I don't feel guilty for logging onto writing.com either. In fact, I look forward to logging on and reviewing or writing a poem or a short story.

Food for Thought: {i"}There's an opposite to déjà vu. They call it jamais vu. It's when you meet the same people or visit places, again and again, but each time is the first. Everybody is always a stranger. Nothing is ever familiar.” - Chuck Palahniuk, Choke
