"Stygian Verses" (Poetry/Day 16)
Stygian Verses
Another night. I toss and turn.
They are just words, yet still they burn
dark images within my mind.
I can't escape, leave them behind.
The sinking sun bodes their return.
Another night. I toss and turn.
I cling to hope, yet my dark muse
leads me on in a cruel ruse.
They speak of pain, of death, and worse
each uttering a darker verse.
Another night. I toss and turn.
Their pleadings for release I spurn.
I resist. I'm able-minded;
yet, in the dark I am blinded.
I'm lost, still seeking light I yearn.
Another night. I toss and turn.
