The March 2, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum" is Write about a time that it was hard to be honest, but you were. I have thought about this prompt for several hours. Honesty is difficult and I suspect it is more difficult for some then for others simply because of childhood experiences. However, I also believe that it is more difficult for a person to be honest with him or herself then with others. The reason for this is that we can tell by body language and vocal tones when a person is honest, when a person is telling us the truth. I usually have more difficulty being honest with myself, about why I do not want to do something or why I procrastinate, then I do with other people. However, an incident comes to mind concerning a purchase I made at a Walgreen's pharmacy a few years ago. It occurred at a time when I could leave Mom by herself for short periods of time. I went to the pharmacy to pick up her meds, while I was there I noticed they had washcloths on sail for about $0.05 a piece. I picked out seven washcloths of various colors and then when to the pharmacy to get the prescription. When I picked up the prescription, I paid the pharmacist for everything or at least I thought I did. I got home, took everything out of the sacks and begin putting my purchases into the National Consumer Panel scanner. That's when I noticed that the pharmacist had not charged me for all the washcloths. I took the washcloths that I had not paid for back to the store and explained to the clerk at the front cash register what happened, she scanned them, I paid for them, and returned home. It was difficult taking them back, but I knew if I did not I would feel guilty every time I took a bath. The March 2, 2013 prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" is Today is the day Theodor Geisel (commonly known as Dr. Seuss) was born! In honor of his birthday and Creation Saturday, write a poem in the style of Dr. Seuss. If you are poetically challenged, write a goofy story similar in theme to Dr. Seuss’s books. Samuel Johnathon Goose, Sat in a giant blue spruce, And stared at the ground, With a perplexed frown. He cried out to all, "Help! I'm going to fall! Please give me a wing To get down from this thing." Sarah Louise Nightingale, Heard Samuel's wail, She flew to his aid, Ask how much he weighed. "You're too heavy for me to carry, Let me contact the bald eagle's aerie, He will lift you right down, And place you safe on the ground." A little bit miffed, The bald eagle asked, "Don't you know how to fly? Can't you rise into the sky?" Samuel Johnathon Goose, Was afraid to fly down from the spruce, So I guess he's still there, Trembling in fear. Thought of the Day: I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities. - Dr. Seuss |
