Funny Friday: False Teeth and I Love Lucy

Friday, August 17, 2012 ~ Day 17 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is Tell us your favourite funny scene in a movie or TV show!

I’ve been thinking about this most of the day. Thinking about all the comedies, I watched on television and at the movies. I think my favorite comedy of all times is I Love Lucy; perhaps because I remember watching the original show on television. While I don’t remember the first television my Grandfather bought, I do remember having a T.V. in the house all through my childhood.

My Grandpa Newland was one of those men who, when a new technology came out, he had to have it. Grandpa wasn’t afraid of new things or new technology because he considered them helpful, time saving, as well as labor saving.

Anyway getting back to the I Love Lucy shows. I’m trying to decided on my favorite scene. There was one show I remember, in this show there was a teenager infatuated with Desi. For some reason the girl couldn’t comprehend the age difference between her and Desi, so Lucy decided she would do something about it.

In the scene I’m thinking about Lucy had invited the young lady to the apartment. Then Lucy dressed up as an elderly woman. Desi could have dressed up like an elderly man, but it’s Lucy’s part that I’m remembering. Lucy pretended to have false teeth and be hard of hearing. Lucy took her teeth out of her mouth. I thought the scene was funny when I first saw it and even today, in reruns I still laugh.

I think I might find that scene funnier today because I have false teeth myself. I take my teeth out every night and put them in a container. In fact, I find myself laughing at my false teeth and me, but I could be remember the I Love Lucy scene.
