The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
March 14, 2012, Wednesday, Day 14 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is My Offline Community and How I Engage With It Since 2009 my offline community has became smaller and smaller. Before August of 2009, I had a half way decent social life. I went to I went to nineteen-day Feast and attended Holy Day celebrations. I even worked the polls on Election Day. After August of 2009, I stayed home most of the time because I could not afford to have someone set with my Mother. In 2010 or was it 2011, my social life improved a little bit because Mom went on Medicaid and got into an Adult Daycare center. Then I was able to get out more often during the day, as long as I did it Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM. I could go to the library, bookstore or to the beauty shop, when I could spare the money. In December of 2011, my social life and interaction with my offline community double. I turned 65, in December of 2011 and went on Medicare and Medicaid, I now had medical insurance. Since December of 2011, I have met all sorts of wonderful new people all in the medical field. Most of them are doctors or nurses. Some of them work in medical supply stores. I have a social life again. I have an offline community with which to interact. I still only have Monday through Friday, holidays not included, between the 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM to interact with my offline community, but at least I am getting out of the house and interacting.
