A House Maintenance Robot

Day 12: January 12, 2012 ~ 30-day Blog Challenge prompt is “We have seen significant technological advancements in our time. Sites like TED and Big Think offer amazing ideas. What do you think will be the next big thing?”

A house maintenance robot, which will be able to do housework, yard work, general repairs, and cook. The housework would include dishwashing and the robot would put the dishes into the dishwasher, turn it on, take the dishes out and put them away.

It would do the laundry, sweep the floor, and make the beds. If something needed repairing then the robot would do that. If the repair job was large such as roof work or tree removal, then the robot would inform the home owner and give the person a list of businesses to call.

The robot would be capable of doing the grocery shopping either by itself or with the home owner. If requested it could cook any type of meal, while following any diet requirements of the household. The homeowner would have input on the types of jobs included in the robots programming and could request upgrades as the household changed.
