The Best or Worst Things About Birthdays

The best things about birthdays...
well, there sure is a lot
for with each birthday comes
another year that you've got!

Sure and it IS another year older
but that just means: get better and bolder!

Another 'best' (for they are even in par)
is that there's more that you've done:
more stories to tell, more mishaps to share
more friends made and more wrinkles won!

Another year to get where you're going;
another year for loving and growing!

Of course, then there's presents
(and past and futures too)--
all fun to unwrap; see the mystery inside
and upon re-gifting is a present for you!

Another year; but as I've often been told--
we just get better; we never get 'old.'

The worst thing about birthdays--
is there such a thing?
I don't believe so for I
am too busy with living!

So there's another candle on the cake
Just blow them out for goodness sake!

Birthdays celebrate when we were born
and the fact we are here to enjoy them still;
For me that gives me time to reflect
on what I've done; and more--what I will!

Birthdays come but once a year--
I greet every one with joy...no fear!

I find it funny when I hear tell of
someone disliking when that day comes round
because it seems to me to be
better than the alternative--stuck in the ground!

Embrace the birthday much as a fine wine
For we getter better over time!
