Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
My daughter in Delaware has now lived through a blizzard, an earthquake, and a hurricane in the three years she has lived there. I think someone is trying to tell her something..... Come on back to Florida.... The nice thing in Delaware right now though is the temperature, highs in the seventies and lows in the fifties. I could use some of that. Today our high was 97 and it felt like 107. Makes me move like a slug. And feel that I am thnking like one, too. Being a Mommy, I worried all last night about her. She lives alone with her kitty, Ollie. She was very prepared, lots of canned food, water, and she put just about everything in her refrigerator into her freezer. The bad news was that today all her food was frozen...except for that dozen eggs I told her to boil.... In addition to dealing with the hurricane, last Wednesday she got stung several times by what she thought was a wasp. All she saw was a skinny, black, flying thing that had injected immense pain while she was washing her car. Her leg, ankle, and foot swelled up, turned red and feverish, and throbbed painfully when not elevated, I could visualize her hobbling around, securing her lawn chairs and trash can, and making other hurricane preparations. I kept telling her to go to the doctor, but she said the magic number was four days....and sure enough, today it started feeling better. What a relief! Her power only went off for a few minutes, and by lunchtime today, all was back to normal in her area. The moral to this story (for myself) is to stop worrying about every little thing. It doesn't help anything, it's normally for nothing, and what a time waster. Now, please remember that, Connie! until next time...c |
