I totally forgot about last Saturday's Prompt from Karen. I wrote in my journal that day, but I did not write according to the prompt. ![]() On Saturday, August 20th, spend a little time reflecting on a piece of your writing you are particularly fond of – we all have some – small, old, and almost forgotten or newly written. Pick something. Share a part or all, a phrase or a sentence from this loved piece. Write about why you like it and when and/or why it was written. Include a bitem of the piece if it is in your port and if you want to - not required by any means. I have to admit, it is a bit tough to pick one piece since I have about 150 writings (mainly poems) in my port and hundreds more on paper. I have many that I am "particularly fond of". Many of my poems that I consider my favorites are dark and depressing. I have bipolar and when I am depressed I write my innermost feelings. To me, these are very personal. One poem is "HOPELESS HAPPINESS" ![]() ![]() Then I have poems about childhood. Some are about me and some are about the children that I met when working for Child Protective Services. These are just a few from my collection: "THE NOISE" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And then I have more uplifting poems of a spiritual nature that I cherish. This poem is near and dear to my heart because I had it all and then I lost it all. "COUNTING MY LOSSES" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I know I'm supposed to pick one piece but that is just impossible for me. Even of those I have chosen, there are so many more that I'd like to pick. I have so many more I want to write about but I'll stop here. I'll just add one of my latest poems that means a lot to me because it is a representation of my writing skills. It is a poem about becoming a preferred author. I wrote this immediately after I found out. "MY YELLOW BRIEFCASE" ![]() I hope you've enjoyed some of my poems. They are very close to my heart. Writing poetry is a great way to unleash emotion and express yourself when you have no other means to do so. "A Poem A Day Contest " ![]() ![]() ![]() ** Image ID #1756829 Unavailable ** |
