Many mysteries still exist....
July 16 - Prompt: In terms of your artistic/writing craft, comment on the following idea:

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious". ~~Einstein
and
"What shakes the eye but the invisible?"~~ Theodore Roethke

The first quote brought to mind the little dog, Mason, who, with two broken legs, made his way home over an unknown distance after the Alabama tornados. Both beautiful and mysterious, no one can explain the force inside that kept him going with such horrible wounds and pain. We pretend to know so much about our world, touting our technology and scirentific advances and yet we know so little about the very animals that share our homes and hearts. I wonder, were the situation reversed, would we have the heart and will and love that little dog showed? It is stories like this one that touch us deep inside. We, as writers, strive for this emotional jolt in our stories, and then nature dumps one in our laps, readymade.

The second quote to me is explained by my love of the water. I am drawn to it but I do not know why. I think the sea is beautiful...others can take it or leave it. I feel a sense of kindred to the ocean, but I cannot explain it. As a writer, I can express my feelings toward the sea and try to share those feelings with others, but in the end they are only words. Only words to others, but something exquisite to me. The why of it, and exactly what it is, remains invisible to us humans.

until next time....c
