30-Day blogging challenge Day 10: July 10, 2011 ~ Prompt: “Who are the authors who have inspired you work?”

Who are the authors who have inspired my work? This is a very good question. It is also a difficult question and an extremely long (perhaps unending) list. The first authors to inspire me were the Brothers Grim and their folk tails. As I grew up other authors inspired me.

When I was old enough to read, Mom took me to the library and helped me get a library card. I read children’s books for a while and then when I was in junior high (middle school today) I began reading romances. The rating for those romances is PG 13. They did not spark my imagination.

Somewhere along the line, I discover science fiction and fantasy, which became my favorite genre. Three of my favorite authors are Isaac Asimov, H. P. Lovecraft, and Edgar A. Poe. After becoming an adult, I added other authors and genre.

One of my favorite poets is Tahirih, whose poems I can only read in their English translations. Scared scriptures also inspire me, I enjoy reading all holy books; however, I do have two favorite that always inspire me. The scriptures and prayers revealed by Baha’u’llah never fail to always inspire a poet or story.
