Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
July 9 Prompt: December 21, 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world. Do you think it will it be a cataclysmic shift of Earth itself, a transformative shift in human consciousness, or something else? I used to pay a lot of attention to the "end of the world" forecasts, but like the little boy who hollered wolf, there have been so many "ends" to come and go, who would believe one now? If all the people, who focus so much of their time and attention to making these predictions, would concentrate on things that are important such as the quality of our air and water, and the extinction of wildlife, and many other legitimate problems, we might not have to worry about the end of the world. They could actually do something to help make our beautiful world a better place instead of vying for attention through doom and gloom predictions. I really do not have much use for them. So no, I don't believe an unknown planet will be crashing into the Earth, and I don't believe the Mayan calendar has predicted the end of time, and I do not believe our gravitational poles will be changing anytime soon, or any of the other hogwash that is out there. I do believe if we do not quit dumping fertilize and other poisons into our water supplies, soon we will have no safe drinking water, and I believe every animal, insect, and living thing is here for a purpose and needs to be treated that way. If we do not start treating our Earth and its inhabitants as we should, then, yes, I do believe, in time, there will be no Earth, and that time will come long before our Sun burns itself out. But I will not look to a human being to predict that day.... until next time....c |
