Insightful...
DAY 5 PROMPT: When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion.
Abraham Lincoln
These few words give us enormous insight into Abraham Lincoln's character, his life and the way he lived it. He took the plight of slavery personally and from these words, we can understand the driving force behind his actions. These words make the difficulty of his decision to go to war with the South obvious. A peaceful but extremely compassionate man, he stood up for his beliefs, and in the end, it cost him his life. But our lives are better for it, although the imprint of slavery left a deep and long-living impression, difficult to erase and make smooth again.
I, like Mr. Lincoln, share his feelings when doing good or bad, but unlike Mr. Lincoln, I hope I never have to make the decision to die for my beliefs.
