A TEAR’S JOURNEY: award winner [Describes how the memory of love wells up in the heart and journeys down the eyes.] Lost in thought about my love, My mood pensively set, Tears welled up deep in my heart, They needed an outlet. Not before long I felt a Misty touch inside the eye, Slowly it assumed a shape. And a droplet did I spy. As the thoughts darkened my heart, The small droplet did enlarge Till it could hold on no more; Downward did it at once barge. I could feel its warm wetness, But my thoughts were rather cold As if to perpetual Gloom already were they sold. Precious was this tear to me, The memory of my love! Could I ever let it fall On the ground from the above? It rested for a while on Just the tip of slender nose; To pick up a handkerchief, From my chair I then arose. What a pity, what heartless Action this was on my part! In that one careless moment, The tear to the ground did dart. The loss of my love had made Me already cry and weep. What a pity even its Tender gift could not keep! • Written in abcb, 7-7-7-7 format. ' Awarded second place and an awardicon in item #1205023, EMOTIONAL POETRY contest, April 2007.
