At the corner of Love and Loss,
no one beckons.
Lights turn green;
traffic travels north or south, crosses
springtime's soltice axis.
Yawning, I walk east
towards tomorrow's dawn.

March Dog

Petted Betty,
wet black Lab;
her mistress sits outside the bakery;
her friend sits too.

Even wayward snowflakes,
ghosts of a winter that will not quit,
won't herd them in.

Out here,
there's chill fresh air
and always a hand to sniff,
to be petted by
anyone who saunters through,
ask Betty.
