Red Canna, circa 1924
"When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it it's your world for the moment." Georgia O'Keeffe, 1946.
Red Canna, circa 1924
Red labia,
the warm silk tips of your petals,
torch song of my garden,
green leaves in drag
heads above the rest,
yellow flames
searing to white,
the silk of all flesh.
There is no flower
without sex,
no sex
worthy of repeating
without your red lips.
From the flowers of Georgia O'Keeffe. I've been walking around with my pocket Georgia...
Just finished David Thomas' Waterworks Hill. I bought plenty of books at the festival and have enough reading for the week.
It is autumn, but the flowers are still in bloom. 40s this evening.
