The Reading
You stood before green lights
faced fifty pairs of ears
that listened, laughed and sometimes cheered
you peered at shadowed faces
lifting wine, a glass of beer.
You once were them.
You've overcome your fear
and turn towards darksome wooden walls,
three tiers of faces facing you
on pale parquet. No time for tears.
You speak into a microphone.
You tell your story,
share your poems
focus on this single moment
telling, sharing then evoking
silence wrapped in pensive thoughts
your voice cuts through.
Sitting at the Top Hat for the student/teacher reading of Second Wind. Writers inspire me. Another one this week...
I have copy of the Maltese Falcon, poetry books and poetry magazines to read this weekend. I'm good for awhile.
The moon is waxing. Fairly clear mights and days... the autumnal cooling is upon us... but no surprises yet this year.
