My Hero's gone to Heaven (911)
Shortly after 911 I was watching the news, of a little boy that lost his Dad, who was one of the firemen that had already save a bunch of people and then ran in there one more time.  The fireman said he was always putting people ahead of himself.  And through his sons tears he said his dad had always been his hero.  And I wrote this song.  Even now I can't read it though without tearing up.

My Hero's gone to Heaven (911)

The news (of 911) came as a frightful wave,
Something so close to home.
My heart started thumping,
as I stared towards the phone.

Then into the eyes of my dad,
he knows I'm old enough to understand,
that my dad is a hero
and I may soon have to become a man.

The ringing breaks the silence,
I might not have another chance.
So I leap across the room
to my dad the Fireman.

He picks up the phone
with one hand upon my head
Mom tried to look brave
but her face was turning red

Dad bends down says
there are people I have to save out there
I hug him tight, you're my Hero Dad,
and I know I have to share

My Hero's gone to heaven
Watching me from above.
Now it's up to me to strive to be
the little man he new I was.

I am striving to be worthy
of the shoes he left for me.
It's me and my Mom from this day on
and my hero he'll always be

Without fear,
a hero's call to duty is always fight to win
There still more people trapped up there,
I am going back again.

Then the massive twins shake,
and then they fall to the ground
My Dad will always be my hero,
and now he's up there looking down

My Hero's gone to heaven
Watching me from above.
Now it's up to me to strive to be
the little man he new I was.

I am striving to be worthy
of the shoes he left for me.
It's me and my Mom from this day on
and my hero will always be

Daddy's always looking down at me
I know he's never ever far away
My heart is where my hero lives
each and every day

I am stiving to be worthy
and Daddy I love you so
You're my hero Daddy,
Daddy you're my Hero

Your my Hero Daddy
Watching me from above
Now it's up to me to strive to be
the little man you new I was.

I am striving to be a worthy man
of the shoes he left for me.
It's me and my Mom from this day on
and my hero he'll always be

++
Mom and I we miss you,
You'll always be our hero
I am stiving to be worthy Daddy
and I love you so

Your're my hero Daddy
and how we love you so
I am striving to be worthy,
Daddy you're my Hero
++ repeat
