The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
The Rain brings back memories, glimpses of my childhood in Oklahoma, flashes of lightning that strike my muse in the head and the heart simultaneously. I am setting at my computer typing. At random intervals I stop typing and look out my living room window. I see rain dripping from the eves. I see raindrops falling from gray-white clouds concealing the blue desert sky. Rain and clouds four days straight, periodically the rain stops as if God is taking a breath before again starting the gentle winter rainstorm. The type of rain we're getting in Las Vegas always brings back memories of Blackwell and of Oklahoma. I read the weather report that arrived in my e-mail box today. It said the rain had stopped over night, if it stopped it wasn't in my neighborhood. It rained all night in this around my house and in this block. Of course, it can rain here and not anywhere else in town. Las Vegas is so big that it can flood one area of town and not another. I think the flood control is working, at least it hasn't flood Charleston underpass in a while. Of course, this is the first time it's rained for longer then a day in several years. |
