This is the book version of my Army of Humans and Monsters |
After the debris settled, Wolfblood picked up Jenkins’s limp body and said to Bloodtooth, “We best get back to base before the police and fire department, and the ambulances, show up and people start to ask too many questions.” “Yah,” Bloodtooth said. “Is the recruit alright? I saw him collapse into your arms.” “Physically, he’s fine, though I’m not sure about emotionally,” Wolfblood said, as he looked at Jenkins, resisting the urge to gorge himself on the young man’s blood. “Well, we best put these two in the bag,” said Bloodtooth. “People would be more than suspicious if they saw me, a werewolf, holding onto a human child, and you, a vampire, holding onto a grown human, as if these two were something we care about, and not potential meals.” “I understand madam,” Wolfblood said, as he placed the top of the bag over Jenkins’s head, shrinking him, as well as pulling him in. He then handed the bag to Bloodtooth, who kissed her niece, saying, before she put her in the bag, “I’ll see you when you are let out.” She then pulled the string on the bag, closing it tight. Then, she placed the bag in her mouth, and after making sure that a certain string was secure on one of her back teeth, swallowed it. In the magic that was used in the making of shrink bags, also included, in addition to shrinking what was placed in it, a protection spell, which kept the objects, or people, inside of it safe from damage, including that of the most powerful of stomach acids. “Let’s get moving,” she said, as she started to walk casually, as if nothing had happened. “Right behind you,” Wolfblood said, as he unloaded Jenkins’s shotgun, placing the shells in his pocket, and slung the weapon on his shoulder. However, although he had the safety on it on, he still kept the M-16 loaded, and in a ready-rest position, and followed behind Bloodtooth, as if she was his superior officer, which she was, as if escorting her. However, a block or two away from the base, a police car pulled over and the officer in it told them to stop. “Where you anywhere near Fourth Street and Harpy Drive when the restaurant there blew up?” he asked, stepping out, revealing him self to be a fox-like kitsune. “Yah, we were near there,” Bloodtooth said, as she knew the drill, admit if you were there if you were, but don’t say that you did something if you did do something. “We went there to retrieve some property of the base that was stolen. However, it wasn’t there, so, we left. We did hear the explosion though.” “If you had had to guess, what would you say that the perpetrators used?” (Kitsune police officer) “I’d have to say that it would have to have been, at least two hundred pounds worth of dynamite.” (Bloodtooth) Bloodtooth then looked at Wolfblood and asked, with a wink, “Hey didn’t the Master at Arms say that someone had stolen a few hundred pounds of explosives last week?” “Why, yes madam. Some male werewolf knocked him out and took more than six hundred pounds of the stuff. Why, the commander is thinking about putting out a reward for information leading to the capture of the culprit, and to think that we could have caught him, if we weren’t looking for his pet instead,” Wolfblood said, as if he was so frustrated with being someone’s personal pet catcher. “I mean, we should be out there looking for him, instead of some weak, scrawny, and pathetic human girl, all because we were placed on pet patrol.” He then looked at the officer and said, “Personally, I’d rather be fighting overseas right now. After all, there are plenty of interesting things to enjoy, if you know what I mean.” “I know what you mean,” the police officer said, getting back into his vehicle. “I always seemed to get stuck pulling parking meter duty, instead of patrolling and catching criminals.” With that, the officer waved his hand and took off. |
