The Thief loves to take his women. Now it is time for him to learn his own lesson! |
Thief of Hearts Chapter Seven A frown gathered on Aphrodite’s beautiful face. This mortal male had been far more stubborn than she had anticipated. She had expected him to have fallen in love by now and to have shed that infuriating arrogance. After all, she had presented him with numerous opportunities over the decades. But how could she teach him a much needed lesson of the heart if his heart couldn’t be reached? By the gods, how she hoped she wouldn’t lose this bet to Apollo. His overconfidence really irritated her and her own brother’s presence didn’t help much either. “What is it about men? Whether mortal or immortal, they share the same damnable faults,” she growled quietly to herself. Aries suddenly made his presence known. “Ah…I see that you have been brooding again, sister. Why don’t you just admit defeat to him?” “Never! I will not lose this bet.” “You think this human is stubborn? Perhaps you should look in the mirror,” chuckled her brother, God of War. “Well, I’m not the only stubborn one around here.” “We’re not talking about me, sis, so don’t even try to change the subject. Would it be so bad to lose to Apollo?” “Of course it would. I bet unlimited pleasures with my body…” “Well, you are the Goddess of Love,” he grinned as he casually lounged back enjoying her growing frustration. “That’s not the point! I’ve never lost a bet and don’t intend to this time either…” “…because you would be not only losing but losing to a male, not to mention Apollo. If you ask me, you get what you deserve playing with this mortal. Believe me, I know men’s hearts. They are wild creatures with only warring and lust on the brain which, might I add, has kept me in business for so long. And then there’s the fact that he’s not Greek.” “There is more to human’s hearts than violence and fucking. And so what if he’s not Greek? Times have changed.” “Yes, they’ve changed to the point that no one acknowledges us anymore. So, I suppose that you intend to prove your theory with this pathetic human male? How long have you been trying to get him to fall in love?” His eyes sharpened with interest. She pursed her lush lips and glared at him. “Hmmm, too long I take it.” “Only because I chose the wrong women but I have finally found a woman that would be difficult not to fall in love with.” “Is that so?” “Yes. For a human female, her wanton desires and allure mimic my own…of course her desires and allure pale in comparison to mine but she will do for a mortal.” “And you think this will be enough to make him fall in love and perhaps put her first instead of himself?” “I don’t see why not.” “My dear sis. This human male is far too involved with himself. You shouldn’t have wasted your time and should have let the others lynch him.” “I have had about enough of this conversation with you. As usual, you don’t understand the workings of love. The attraction must come first before all else follows.” “Yet I myself haven’t fallen in love and have had numerous, numerous attractions,” he chuckled. “There is plenty of violence to keep me occupied for eternity and as for the fucking well…” “…well, spare me the details.” “Why? I thought you loved to hear about my conquests.” “I grow bored with your tales…” “You grow bored of me living them and you not. I bet you’re secretly dying to fuck him.” “What, the human?” “No, you know who I’m talking about.” “Oh, please…I could have him if I want him but I don’t. I merely agreed to give up my body to his whims because I felt that I would win.” “Which comes from being vain. Your beauty has gone to your head.” A smile spread across her lovely lips. “But this is how I am, brother…” “And I will continue warring and fucking. Not only will you fail with this human, but your ‘love’ will never work on me and I do believe that Apollo will win his bet after all.” “You are impossible,” she blurted then disappeared angrily in a burst of bright light. He lounged around thinking about what his sister had said. Had he not been her brother, he would have had her himself long ago. And in fact, he had thought about her often in a most unbrotherly way. Maybe he should pay a visit to this human female that she spoke of…make the game a little more interesting? It might be nice to see what she was like even if she ‘paled in comparison’ to Aphrodite. Maybe he could even enjoy her company for a bit himself. Why let that pathetic mortal man enjoy her if he himself chose to? “Hmmm, do I want Apollo to win the bet or my dear, sweet sis?” He shrugged his shoulders. It really didn’t matter to him as long as he could get a little pleasure from Aprhodite’s entanglement. ****** Megan awakened and felt most deliciously sore. She eased out of the bed and walked around the apartment. It was no great surprise that her ‘thief’ had disappeared. How strange her life had suddenly become. Would he be coming back again? She bit her bottom lip then hurried over to the laptop to see if anything else had been typed. A quick perusal proved that her story…or somebody’s story had reached all the way to chapter seven. She crinkled her brow perplexed. Though the title of chapter seven had been typed, the rest of it had been hidden. And the title of chapter eight had been typed leading into the here and now. Why had this chapter been hidden? She sat down and played with the computer keys for a little bit trying to figure out how to read the hidden chapter but it was no use. She only used the computer for typing her stories. Other than that, she was computer illiterate. “I think I’m losing my mind,” she mumbled as she made her way to the bathroom to ready herself for the day. But nuts or not, she had things to do today and couldn’t let this weirdness stop her. In fact, perhaps she would head to the library to try and find out if any references could be found on someone nicknamed the Thief of Hearts. McKinzie S. Heart ~Live to write, write to live~ |
