The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
Fidál (Grace), 17 ‘Azamat (Grandeur), 166 BE – Tuesday, June 2, 2009 about 6:06 AM Pacific Time I'm not sure how our ancestors survived without cool air, but they did or we wouldn't be on the planet. I can't get the central air unit fixed until Thursday, when Mom's Social Security check hits her bank account. I'm making sacrifices, I can't get on line during the hottest part of the day. This means that I'm confined to working in the mornings when the temperatures are cooler. If we're lucky the money will hit the bank account tomorrow morning and I can have someone come in then and fix the unit. I'm thankful that it went out this early in the summer because it gets even hotter here in Vegas. True May temperatures here set records, but the temperature in the house hasn't gotten over about 91 degrees. The house stays 10 or 15 degrees cooler then the outside air. I don't like to use the computer when the temperature gets over 90 degrees. When the unit is working it kicks on when the temperature in the house gets about 86 degrees. I suspect everyone else in town keeps their indoor air cooler then that, but we (Mom and I) don't. Mom gets cold when the temperature is under 75 degrees; therefore, I set the thermostat at 79 degrees and the cool air comes on when the indoor temperature reaches 85 or 86 degrees. All right, if I had an emergency fund I wouldn't be having this problem. I'm going to start a savings account this month for both of Mom and myself. I can open a saving account with $25.00 for two savings accounts that's $50.00. It will make things tight, but finances are tight anyway so a little tighter isn't going to make much of a difference. Besides the only time one needs to worry about a tight fit is in clothing. |
