Today is Memorial Day

The last Monday in May
the day to remember those who died
in battlefields across the world
or on their own native soil
fighting for freedom.

At 3:00 PM,
ring a bell three time
to commemorate
the sacrifice of those who returned home
in flag draped caskets
or did not return at all,
but are buried in cemeteries
in other nations.

On the last Monday in May,
say a prayer for the departed heroes
as their souls ascend
through all the worlds of God.
