Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
The magnolias are in bloom. I dropped in at the Earth Day event in Caras Park and snapped this photo. Late at night, I even managed to learn how to download the pictures from my camera. This one is "enhanced" and "cartooned". I'm armed and dangerous now! Say paprikash Will'ya take the picture already? The sun's in my eyes and I got plenty to do. After hanging the laundry, the windows need washing and the lawn must be cut. Want to lend me a hand? The clouds might move in and one never knows. And then stay for some supper? The onions are cut, the veal's been prepared and I have sour cream. D'ya like paprikash? It'll be ready by six and then I'm going out. Friday's my night to get drunk. Why look so shocked? Well, get over it Sonny, snap the damn shutter; take your best shot. © 2009 Kåre Enga [166.29] 2009-04-10 Well, I read this for ekphrastic class last Monday (edited since). It's based on a painting that has an aproned middle-aged woman holding a basket of laundry squinting at the painter, sun in her eyes. It looks suburban 1949. But ... I don't know the name of the painting, can't find it on-line. It feels so much like a Hopper. blahblahblahblah: I spent a quiet day Sunday. Saw folks, saw friends, walked up Waterworks Hill. More flowers in bloom up there and in town: vinca, choke-cherry, windflowers. It was in the 60s and pleasant. Saturday, I saw the osprey up on its nest in the outfield of the ballpark; bought my ticket to Kansas. Got a call from Chris who I hoped was in Missouri but he's in New York; we've talked about us meeting in Kansas and driving back. It is 1,000 miles from WNY; it is 1,600 to Missoula. Couldn't find me notebook! I literally get hysterical. Thankfully, I thought to call Rory ... I left it at her house. So now I'm chillin' wi' creamy spinach and feta on focaccia al ros marino. Life is good. BLOGVILLE: This blog has passed 14,000 views; my "Hoarfrosts" hit 1,400. Do I wish I were still 14? NOT! todirsa continues to write moving memoir: "Invalid Entry" A wicked thought: Just Jamie singing "Lysol and the kids" to "Master of the house" from Les Mis. Read "Invalid Entry" . I do not like preachy dogmatic songs. Crooning and swooning "I love Jesus" makes me want to shout back, "Well show it!" So, it's with great delight that I ask you to consider this song pointed out by Debi Wharton : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTsYAZvHsEQ I've heard a local group, everGreen, play "Give me Your Eyes" at ZooTown Brew. Have to talk to Daniel about that.
