This is me as a freshmen in high school. One word for you: beware. :-) |
~Pre- Prologue~ Aside from any already-perceived judgments and/or perceptions of my personality or person as a whole, I’m pretty normal girl living an extremely normal life. People say that writers write what they know, and in fact, that is exactly what I’m doing. I haven’t traveled to very many places—if you must know and pity me, four mundane, indistinguishable states in the USA, one of which is my home and birthplace—or experienced any exciting or exotic adventures worthy of telling a vivid, lively tale, but I do have a story to tell: my own. ~Characters~ *in order of appearance* Marcie Kae- a.k.a ME, the writer of this crazy story about my freshmen year Chris- my blonde-haired, golden-eyed, football-playing ex-boyfriend who I went out with for five months Megan- my older sister by two years who changed her hair color as often as some people changed their sheets Ms. E- my keyboarding teacher who I will be forever indebted to because of her seating chart that placed Chris right next to me and began our relationship with the few strokes of a keyboard Mike- the jerk—to be extraordinarily nice to say the least—who persistently bothered me in my Physical Systems class until I finally snapped Jared- my lab partner more than once who felt it was necessary to write his number on my hand Carla- now one of my best friends who I met in Physical Systems and spent most of my lunch hours with during freshmen year Mrs. K- my awesome Physical Systems teacher who had a tank full of fish that were for some reason incredibly fascinating to watch when the hour crawled by interminably slowly Mandi- now one of my best friends who I met in Health class first semester and spent the entire time cheating with on everything in Health class Miranda- my friend I met in Health class, also, who experienced my embarrassing obsession outburst at her birthday party Mr. C- my Health teacher who apparently never noticed Mandi’s and my cheating and discussing answers during every test and even the final Greg- my sophomore Geometry buddy who was in a group with Chris and me during second semester who probably had to witness Chris’s and my embarrassing hand-holding and flirting Frank- the guy I almost embarrassingly went out with but was luckily saved by Mandi and her logic David- my ex-boyfriend who I cold-heartedly used to make Chris jealous in times of desperation Derek- my first real guy friend who I complained to about Chris not liking me and all other things desperate and pathetic Chelsea- my best friend since Kindergarten—on-and-off, but definitely on from 7th grade till currently—who unfortunately attended a different high school Coach H- my cross country coach for freshmen year Mary- my former best friend who moved to DeSoto and fell out of touch Sarah- my friend who I met in Literature/Composition class who came up to me randomly asking my name, who I then subsequently spent most of my lunch hours with Ryan- my sophomore stalker who I regrettably danced with at Homecoming Matt- the guy I was obsessed with most of 6th through 8th grade who I rarely talked to and somehow though was incredibly hot when he wasn’t Heather- my best friend who I went to school with from 6th through 8th grade and unfortunately attended another high school, just like Chelsea did Ashley- my best friend who unfortunately moved to O’Fallon after 8th grade who I went to school with 6th through 8th grade, but still keep in touch with Rick- the guy I was obsessed with from when I started liking guys until the end of 5th grade when he went to a different school after our catholic school closed Eddie- my amazingly insightful, sensitive, gentlemanly guy best friend who served as my therapist in grave times ~Prologue~ Readers’ Note: This story was written during my actual ninth grade experience and the summer ensuing. I am calling it fictional because it is in no way purely factual. Some parts may be true or based on real life events, but other parts may be made up entirely from my vivid imagination. I’ll leave it up to you to judge what’s true and what’s not. For the purpose of protecting those characters who may be based upon real people, names have been changed or abbreviated. Readers’ Note #2: Because this was written during ninth grade, I have decided to keep most of it the same as when it was originally written to conserve the emotions manifest behind each chapter depending on when it was written. Keep in mind that while the exact situations may or may not have been changed for entertainment or more thrilling plot purposes, the emotions and my personality behind it are very real. I’ve always been one of those girls who dreams about her fairytale and Prince Charming coming to sweep her off her feet. In a way, I did find my Prince Charming—for a while anyway. He made me happy, and that’s always been something important to me. I’ll stop spoiling the story, and let you find out for yourself. |
