Pregnancy pact 2008, June 24 Would girls get together and make a pact to get pregnant? Would they have sex with older men? Did they? No one knows for sure, but in Gloucester, Massachusetts this has become a hot debate. No one has suggested entrapment or sexual abuse, but this is what it would look like if everyone weren't so happy about the situation. The Catholic Hospital didn't want to promote contraceptives. Wonder if they paid for the deliveries? And the Catholic Church must be proud. More little Catholic kids ("born a Catholic, die a Catholic") to get baptized, confirmed and start all over again. In Texas would the state order DNA tests for all pregnant minor girls and all the town's men? It's Catholic town with a Catholic culture and not the CRT [Christian Republic of Texas] trying to deal with despised renegade "cult members" [Mormons]. Other faith communities also turn a blind eye to teen pregnancy or provide support. But we are talking about girls having sex (boys who have sex with other boys are probably not met with the same congratulations). Those that criminalize or shun create further problems. Personally, if you are old enough to have sex, you should know what you are doing. If it is consentual, why care about the ages. Girls, especially if they are needy, know how to get pregnant and know how to offer themselves to men. If one says NO, there's always another dude who'll say YES MA'AM. So ... should 'children' be having children? Probably not, but for the girl who is poor this must seem better than a baby doll and most will probably turn out to be good mothers. If not ... well, waiting wouldn't necessarily have made them any better. With multi-generational support and community acceptance, the mother and child may do quite well. One would hope so .... peace, Kåre |
