I hate when people oversimplify my tastes. Chris rented The Hills Have Eyes because, he said, it "seemed like [my] kind of movie." He was basing this on the fact that I like Saw and Kill Bill and don't turn my head at the gory parts.

Saw is a thrill ride full of probing philosophical questions and incredibly creative plot twists. The main characters are rich and complex, with personalities that stem obviously from their circumstances and histories.

Kill Bill is a passionate, epic love story with good dialogue and great music. The characters are equally well-developed, and there is nothing routine about the way the story is told.

The Hills Have Eyes is a plotless, unbearably drawn-out gorefest that could have been a composite of the action scenes from every other gross D-movie from the past ten years.

Chris doesn't get me.
