Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Kerfuffled about the future ...
ME:

Oh ... I'm crabby. Thank-you ever-so-much for asking! *Laugh*

My liver and onions were overdone; I may be out of $50 because of my own stupidity; no sun today; I can't seem to find my way around moving on with my life (limited resources are the mother of invention and the father of heartbreak); tea, coffee, watching a movie ... nothing seems to be getting me out of my snit.

Perhaps the sun will come out tomorrow. *Cool*

My writing? 7 days into the new year, I've sketched out about 11 poetic somethings. That's about right. I check every 10-15 days so I don't get too far behind. My objective is 1 1/2 per day.

Okay ... I need help. And I'll ask again and again until I resolve this.

To go on the road ...

Ruth suggests a motorbike and a tent.

Ranita says RV.

Aer Greyhound and a hotel?

So ... what am I missing here?

Transportation:

1. Gas is getting expensive.
2. RV, motorbikes, cars, trucks and planes need insurance, upkeep and other considerations.
3. The bus does not go all the places I want to visit.
4. A moped gets 70-90 mpg. But ... it's for "around town".
5. I'm too out-of-shape to bicycle! *Laugh* I DO NOT want to wobble across America. A two seat side-by-each recumbent surrey, though ...

Surreys: http://www.internationalsurreyco.com/products.htm

Darby, Montana's Micro car: http://www.lightfootcycles.com/microcar.htm

Quadracycle: http://www.quadracycleinc.com/

A good place to browse and find bikes, trikes, quads and ... all over the world:

http://helmets.org/fourwhel.htm

Place to stay:

1. RV: like a turtle, carry me home on me back?
2. Would camper, truck and tent or something more modest work?
3. Hotels are expensive ($30-50). Hostels are non-existant in many areas and not as cheap as one may think. KOA ain't cheap period ($20-35; $70 in Florida). Oklahoma State Parks cost $16/night.
4. Wal*Marts are free when they allow it (about 300 don't). South Carolina is easy. Arizona hard and Nova Scotia harder still.
5. What about Interstate rest stops. Or Truck Stops?

My stuff:

1. storage unit?
2. room for cheap rent, storage and as a place to come home to?
3. Throw everything out? Not reasonable, but ...

All of this must be done at less than $1,000/month as I do have to eat!

So why even bother trying?

1. Because I want to? *Rolleyes*
2. If not now, when? Are you getting younger? I'm not!
3. Because it isn't hurting anyone and I can? And if I no longer want to I can quit?

Other being-in-contact factors:

1. cell phone *Check1*
2. laptop with broadband internet *Check2*
3. digital camera (so I can do travelogs, etc.) [not yet, but they can be bought for less than $100]
4. Skype ... some day.
5. PO box ... isn't there a UPS (not USPS) way of doing that?

Writing:

1. I can write anywhere about anything. I don't promise GOOD writing; but, new places, people and images might help freshen my writing up.
2. Paper, books. Do I leave or take with?
3. Conferences. Go from one to another that I can afford? Some are expensive (RI), some are not (ND), some need transpo (Austin).

So is there anyone who can give suggestions. Like: been there done that, here are some pointers? Pros and cons? Idears? You left out ... Did you think of ... Here's a website ... of places where you can stay for FREE! Please email me ... I really truly need help with this.

IMAGES:

Red maple-blossoms; first forsythias; dull moist grey; the promise of rain in the air, but no deliverance; white snowdrops nodding by Greene Hall.

I want to go back to Missoula, Montana, SOON:

Kansas: 43º and still moist and crappy. It's much cooler than normal.
