Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
For all the Sons of Ice Father was crystal, clear glass and cold, colorless, aglaze, with frozen icicle hands, and see-through eyes, a parent transparent as crisp blue sky, full of laughter and joy. He hid everything else. Froze it, shoved it to the back of a shelf, buried deep in an icebox, where he kept it along with his heart. It beat only for you. And yet, perhaps, it beat for the rest of us too. Clear beats, s l o w b e a t s, each drip of his glacier thawing us through. © 2007 Kåre Enga [164.414] 2007-12-08 To review and rate:"For all the Sons of Ice" ME: I cleaned up the kitchen and bathroom floors and the stove top a bit today. I'll do more in a couple weeks when the 'traffic' in-and-out the house calms down a bit. House mates are a necessary situation for me (for most of us not independently wealthy ... and even then ...). Read some blogs today! Yay!!! At Aimee's chilling. The weather is damp and I want to get this entry done in time to catch the 7:44 express that drops me off in front of my driveway. I have scented candles (already had my bubblebath) but forgot to buy hot cocoa ... Oh well, I got chocolate syrup and milk and I could just warm it up or nuke it! Don't cry for me, Butte Montana ... ♫ ♫ ♫ (sing it, Evita!) MONTANANS: They stop for pedestrians in Missoula! I actually had this experience more than once (cross my heart and hope ...) when I wanted to cross a street and cars stopped so I could pass in front of them! Oh my! So different than here where they turn on red without looking, plow through cross-walks (aim?), can't read yellow yield signs. Blue jeans. 'Nuff said. Open to strangers. No one went howling when I said hello. Not very suspicious folks. I mean, I R AN ALIEN! (my home planet hasn't found me yet.) Friendly ... maybe not as warm as Oklahomans, but those folks are down-right toasty if they take a shining to ya. Helpful ... for the most part. I didn't get an overwhelming feeling that folks were holding back; although, a couple people working weren't overly interactive. Service is not always accompanied by a smile (not here neither). Oh, there's more. I'll just have to check all my notes. I wrote a lot in my journal, much more then I blogged. Kansas: chilly, 20 icy degrees. 1237 |
