December bath

... waves waves waves ...
splash over my thighs,
slowing to ripples
that caress my chest.

This warm embrace of the tub,
this slant of winter's weak light,
diffused from glowering grey
splattered with white.

All: anxiety, fright,
submersed in this water-of-life,
cleansed by the waves waves waves
calming to ripples.

ME:

Hey! At least I remembered to buy bubblebath today and scented candles, toilet paper and food even!

Slept in. We had a power outage last evening so home was 'quiet'.

Butterfly Herbs: narrow, soft, fragrant (lavender, pine) candles and candy, teas and coffees, soup and a hundred herbs. Breakfast and lunch. Light from the back off the alley. Warm and comforting. Zach. "Born without a golden belly-button" 

Liquid Planet: curvy walls, shiny, glass. Late night crowd. More sophisticated.
Coffees. Free internet computers. Wine. Mix of hard and soft surfaces. Katie, Whitney. "Grizz fan" 

The Break: wood and brick. High ceilings. Cavernous. Hard surfaces. Pie! (apple, strawberry-rhubarb, pecan, pumpkin) and quiche. 25 cent refills. College students. Skylar. "Skye" 

Dinosaur Café: Cajun cooking, dark. At the back of Charlie B's. Smoky, gambling, drinking. Locals.

Army Navy Store: G.I. Joe, the friendly squawky green macaw, soft surfaces, an upper floor, a two foot long boot (only the right one), flannels and wools, fleece and down. Warmth. Down-to-earth.

Catalyst: lunch for the working crowd, more upscale. Awesome soup but pricey. 2nd floor balcony.

Hob Nob: on South Higgins. Breakfast and lunch. Students. Small and cozy with old newspaper clippings under glass on the tables.

Kansas and Montana: both 33º. We are expecting ice tonight in Kansas.
