Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
Are you so one without me?
You are so one, but only one without me.
And you can move to Alaska and live in No ,
but you'll always miss me.
And know that if you can't decide whether
you are n or wo n,
you'll feel confused without me.
You may go, but never co , without me.
And so you'll remain:
so how a so body, so where a so one;
but still, no one without me. © Kåre Enga 2007 [164.269] 2007-10-03 Based on what someone said they saw on a teeshirt: "Without me you are aweso" Me: Still don't know how I'm going to get to Oklahoma. Without transportation and a place to stay, this becomes an issue. Might be able to overcome one barrier, but two? Wish I could visit Murv Jacobs and Debbie Duvall in Tahlequah. Bought their book, Rabbit Goes to Kansas yesterday at the Oread Bookstore. They have a wicked sense of humor when it comes to Jayhawks (Kansas U.) not wanting to see the rest of the world and leaving Wildcat in the Flint Hills (where Kansas State U. Widcats are found). I'll send it to my friend Gary as a late birthday gift. The link: http://www.jacobandduvall.com/eb01/index.html Just click on the cyberstory to see the illustrations. Just checked their schedule. Guess they will be in Kansas November 2nd and 3rd! Also bought Ken Lassman's Wild Douglas County. I've had occasion to speak to him in the past, too. He writes about the local ecosystem and describes the seasons month by month, week by week, using the Osage (originally from this area) month names: Yellow flower moon / august Deer hiding moon / september Deer mating moon / october Coon breeding moon / november Baby bear moon / december Frost on inside of lodge moon / january Light of day returns moon / february 'Just doing that' moon / march Planting moon / april Little flower killer moon / may Buffalo pawing earth moon / june Buffalo mating moon / july He breaks down each moon by 4 weeks. For instance Deer mating moon (now): Observing deer Autumnal crescendo Shorter days, longer nights Freeze week I think in terms of 'seasons' that I notice living here: Return of the nighthawks [late Spring] Stars fall to earth (twinkling of the Fireflies) [early Summer] Maples ablaze [late October] Dust in the wind (Yes, this is Kansas) [August] Redbuds abloom [early Spring] Having kept "Images" for over a year gives me reference to the passing of seasons. IMAGES: The custard of persimmon in my mouth; purple-brown pods on the locust, their leaves of golden filagree falling one leaflet at a time; smell of chrysanthemum; a crabapple tree totally in pink bloom; a five leaf clover in my front lawn.
