Wash away my sins, Lord (poem)
Wash away my sins, Lord
When come the rains:
will crickets crawl out from the cracks?
will spiders sprint up casement walls?
will bluejays shriek and call?
Some sign, Lord, just one sign ...
It's almost silent, this August drought,
this sunrise before the Fall,
soft buzz of cicadas slicing through stillness,
the ground holding its breath in thrall
for the onrush
of rain.
Flit and flutter of little wings, the cattail leaves tan and dying, their fruit drying; cracks becoming gaps wide enough to turn an ankle; the cloudy sky; the yellow leaves of cottonwood and willow.
Busy day ahead of me! Later!!
Still offering 1,001 gps for reviews of my 2005 poem: "I, Katrina" Got 10 new reviews (up to 33) and now up to 189 views ... My goal is 50 new reviews and 250 - 500 views total. When YOU want a poem/story read what do YOU do? I'm on both plug pages and I hoped my blog entry would've been googled, but very little activity there either. Ideas? Suggestions?
