Living has a knack for altering one’s priorities.

The process of transformation requires growth,
requires experience to change the patterns of our thoughts,
requires us to step outside ourselves to become our true selves.

In order for our souls to reflect spiritual attributes,
it must be polished,
therefore
a body is conceived
and the soul becomes its partner.

The soul’s priorities are what
to become a polished mirror
a cut gem
reflecting in rainbow colors the light of divinity.

The body’s priorities
survival and procreation
in a hostile environment.

And between the two
insistent self,
sees only material existence,
look only at the present condition
to assist in the survival of the body.

Born onto the plain of matter
the child wants only its own comfort,
its own survival,
but as it grows
the child becomes aware
of a larger world
and other priorities
it’s individual priorities are altered.

As we grow,
as we step outside ourselves,
as become aware of a greater reality
live and living,
faith and prayer,
alter our priorities
and in the process of this transformation
we become our true selves,
we become a cut gem, a polished mirror or …
