SHALL I BE HAPPY WHEN I DIE?
SHALL I BE HAPPY WHEN I DIE?

Shall I be happy when I die?
Shall I be grief stricken?
Shall I be afraid of death, or
By remorse be smitten?

It all depends on how I fare
In this my life on earth.
If I have lived joyfully then
I shall die, too, with mirth.

A joyful life is not the one
That’s full of wild pleasure.
One ought to have joy in the heart
In the fullest measure.

Joy in the fullest measure comes
When we give to others.
For those who give nothing but pain
None in the world bothers.

I hope that through my pen I did
Give out a bit of joy.
It does look like that, my poems,
My readers did enjoy.
