SHOULD I REPENT?-- a sonnet


Should I repent that I did waste my life,
Which I could have put to much better use?
Should I be sorry I fought with my wife,
And gave her less of love, more of abuse?

Should I lament my children don’t adore
Their dad as much as they dote on their mom?
Should I in my heart feel bitter and sore
That in my old age I sleep in a dorm?

No, why should I, by all this, be rattled?
Shall I not bid goodbye to all one day?
In fact it is the nature’s law settled,
That ultimately one would lie in clay.

Why aspire for pleasure till comes the end?
Why not welcome the pain that god does send?
